Traditional English Afternoon Tea
A 5 Star Hotel isn’t complete without a traditional Afternoon Tea.
Back in 1840, breakfast and dinner were the only meals of the day. Anna Maria Russell, Duchess of Bedford, who couldn’t stand her midday cravings, decided to create a light meal consisting of Darjeeling Tea, cakes and sandwiches. This meal would be eaten at around 4pm and would invite friends to join her. Afternoon Tea was born. Rockliffe Hall intends to maintain this tradition and develop it to everyone taste.
We pride ourselves on finding ways to serve this ultimate English tradition with a modern and original twist. There is always a good reason to come and enjoy afternoon tea at Rockliffe Hall and we ensure that there is something to suit every need and taste.
Our tea is sourced by the acclaimed Jing Tea and our delicious cakes, sandwiches and savoury treats will make you want to stay and relax for the day!
Afternoon Tea in the Orangery and Morning Room: daily between 1pm and 4pm.
Following the success of our traditional afternoon tea, we have decided to make the Orangery available to everyone between 1pm and 4pm. So that as many people as possible can enjoy the great surrounding that is the Orangery, afternoon tea bookings last 2 hours and we do request that the table becomes available after that time. We have plenty sittings in our lounges if you wish to stay with us after that time.
