Rockliffe Hall is a privately owned golf course nestling in the village of Hurworth on Tees, County Durham, surrounded the river Tees. The 18-hole course, designed by Marc Westenborg of world famous Hawtree and built by M.J.Abbotts, is one of the longest and most challenging courses to be built in the UK in the last 10-years. While designed to give tour professionals a true test the course also allows players of any level to enjoy a quite unforgettable experience. From the greeting on arrival, to the service in the club house, to the professional shop, and the practice facilities and course layout, put simply Rockliffe Hall aims to be ‘world class’

Constructed in nearly 300 acres the course is surrounded in a horse shoe by the river tees. Formed on 150-year old agricultural land the three new lakes and eight beautiful reed beds and wetlands, fit seamlessly into the County Durham landscape. Designed sympathetically to the meet the demands of both a world class golf course and the environment, close to two hundred and fifty thousand trees are being planted both to compliment the outstanding countryside and encourage the return of wildlife.

This green field site has allowed Marc Westenborg and M.J.Abbotts to create a course which will set new milestones. At the end of the magnificent sweeping fairways you will find subtle greens with seeded with A4 and G2 bent grass, used in the best USA tournament courses.

Rockliffe Hall will be run by a first class management team. The course itself will be looked after by Course & Estate Manager Davy Cuthberston and his team of 16 green keepers. With hand cut greens, magnificent fairways, beautiful reed beds and lakes, let alone the 90 tee-boxes and 82 bunkers, and 12 miles of state of the art drainage, Davy and his team will work 365 days a year to make sure the course is the best you will ever play.
