Just a touch of the past

At the heart of the development is the historic Rockliffe Hall, previously a mansion house owned by the Backhouse family. Built in 1863 the ten-bedroomed house is being restored to its former glory with many of the original features.

A place you will never want to leave

Stop to take in the splendour of the original entrance hall and you will be reminded of the fine architecture of the period with carved stone pillars and oak balustrades meeting the uniquely ornate ceilings.

But there will be nothing austere about the Hall, think of a warmest welcome to a luxurious house and this is what you will find as you enter the Old Hall. Walk through the reception rooms and into the gardens overlooking the golf course, and then into the magnificent Orangery.

As you make your way past the restored stained glass windows and oak staircases, you will find yourself entering one of the beautifully appointed bedrooms, each one with a truly individual style and ambience. With most bedrooms overlooking the golf course and the River Tees beyond, the secluded hotel is inspired and sympathetically restored to the grand standards of the original 18th Century Old Hall. Complementing this are the most contemporary and luxurious additions, making it the most comfortable, relaxed and elegant hotel in the North.

Each of the restaurants at Rockliffe Hall have their own style, but the hallmark underpinning all is the use of the finest fresh produce available locally, as well as from specialist suppliers around the world.

The Orangery – restored to its former glory, the magnificent Orangery fine dining room where the finest modern British dining will be enjoyed.

The Bistro - Chill out in our Bistro with a choice of light and delicious or indulgent and satisfying meals.

The Clubhouse - From a fine banquet to great homely cooking, or just a snack before heading home, you can relax in the club house, or outside on viewing terraces, and enjoy a great food experience added to your day at Rockliffe Hall.

Cocktail Bar – At the heart of the hotel serving morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea with all the trimmings. Visit in the evening for original cocktails, aperitifs or after dinner liquers.

Spikes Bar – serving cask ales and a choice of traditional meals – from all-day breakfast to tasty snacks.
