Rockliffe Hall is was too good to miss, I could see in an instant the project had all the potential to be one of the great international destinations. One of the great thrills about this job is seeing an entity like
Rockliffe Hall come to life again from a handful of employees during the development to now nearly 300 people, which makes the annual staff party an interesting affair!
What a year!
2011 saw Rockliffe Hall achieve many great milestones such being awarded official 5 star classification from the AA along with 3 rosettes for our food, being voted 'Large Hotel of the Year at the North East Tourism awards and awarded 'Best Keep Secret' by Laterooms.com for our Spa. We've also hosted numerous high profile events such as the Premier League AGM, the Bobby Robson Foundation Golf Day, and the international Bentley Owners annual tour.
They are all just as important to me, and seeing our award case makes me realise just how well the hotel has done since it opened in 2009. It's such a buzz for all the team to see our rapid progress acknowledged in this way and to see Rockliffe becoming the preferred venue for celebrities when they stay in the North East. Obviously I can't tell you who.....!
2012 looks set to be another exciting year, with many great events such as hosting our second Trilby Tour which again will be televised on SKY TV, the launch of our own new 'Northern Masters' golf tournament and numerous extremely exciting and high profile football related visits - more of that later. The Spa has been short listed for the annual national Professional Beauty Awards, which is really the spa industry main recognition so fingers crossed for that.……
After a very busy Christmas and New Year here at Rockliffe Hall (our busiest week to date), we are excited for the year ahead and the new events in the pipeline. With Burns Night, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, golf competitions and more, I am sure that my next blog will be full of exciting news from the next few months ahead of us.
