Following the success of last year’s Coast to Coast bike ride, Rockliffe Hall’s intrepid team of cyclists (along with some new faces) were once again back in the saddle to raise much-needed funds for the Beefy Foundation. This year, 12 staff cycled the terrain of the Way of the Roses (taking in Lancashire and Yorkshire) between Thursday 28th and Saturday 30th August, covering a total of 170 miles.
The route took the ‘Rockliffe Riders’, who have been training since the start of the year, from Morecambe sea front, across to Pateley Bridge, onto Pocklington in North Yorkshire and finishing at Bridlington.
As well as the Coast to Coast, Rockliffe Hall supports Beefy’s Charity Foundation by organising staff fundraising activities, making prize donations and offering the resort as a venue for high profile corporate events.
Beefy’s Charity Foundation is well-known worldwide for raising funds for a number of good causes such as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Cardiac Arrest in the Young, Battens Disease, Juvenile Diabetes and Brain Tumour Research in Yorkshire. Sir Ian himself has completed hundreds of challenges, including his 14 charity walks across the globe, and has raised over £13 million since 1985.
Cricket legend, Sir Ian, is generally considered the country’s greatest ever all-rounder having played in over 100 Test matches for England, scored 5,200 runs and having taken a record 383 Test wickets.
Each year Rockliffe Hall chooses a nominated charity to work with and the team carries out a range of fundraising activities including coast to coast rides, dinners, runs and sports matches.
