10th Anniversary Celebrations Raise £7053 for Air Ambulance

Rockliffe Hall has raised £7053 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service during the five star resort’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

A silent auction and raffle held at the 10th Anniversary Ball, hosted by GNAAS Patron, Pam Royle, raised £4826 while a wreath-making workshop hosted by Flowers by Nattrass at Rockliffe Hall raised an additional £2227.

Rockliffe Hall announced GNAAS as its nominated charity for the year in May, setting a fundraising target of £10,000, so is well on its way to hitting it. The resort still has plans for other special events and fundraising activities, including members of staff planning to tackle the Coast to Coast bike ride next spring. Guests are also being asked if they’d like to make a voluntary £1 donation on check-out.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service will also be holding a charity golf day at Rockliffe Hall on July 16th 2020. The event includes a bacon roll before a shotgun start at 11am. After 18 holes there’ll be a two-course dinner in The Clubhouse followed by presentations. The cost is £340 per team and dinner is available for non-playing guests at £30 per person. GNAAS brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year. The charity operates three helicopter air ambulances from its bases at Durham Tees Valley Airport and Langwathby, near Penrith. It covers around 8,000 square miles including the North-East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

The charity receives no funding from the NHS and is entirely reliant on public donations to survive. In the last financial year alone, GNAAS responded to 1062 call-outs at a cost of £5.2 million.

Simon Roberts, General Manager at Rockliffe Hall, says: “This is a fabulous start to our fundraising activities for the Great North Air Ambulance Service and we’re delighted our guests and members have been so generous. The Rockliffe Hall team and GNAAS still have lots of fundraising plans in the pipeline so we’re hopeful we’ll hit, or maybe even beat, our £10,000 target.”
