Catering student Harold Cutting and Beauty Therapy student Emma Abroue received high praise from college staff for their commitment to their studies and attitude to learning and achievements.
Harold, a Level 3 professional catering student, currently works in Rockliffe Hall’s Brasserie – in September he will go to Essex University to study a foundation degree in catering and hopes one day to own his own restaurant or work at the Savoy in London.
Harold, 18, of Darlington, said: “I’m so surprised to share this wonderful honour with Emma but it is lovely to be recognised in this way.”
Each year, Rockliffe Hall’s Spa offers two work experience places to Level 3 Beauty Students from Darlington College. Tutors selected Emma Abroue, 41, from Darlington, because of her passion and drive to be the best in the industry. Emma went on to win the Rockliffe Hall Beauty Therapy Excellence award and has now won Darlington College’s Beauty Therapy Student of the Year award.
Victoria Rickett, Rockliffe Hall’s Spa Manager, said: “Emma is a fantastic member of our spa team. Her treatment skills are sublime and she has a warm, natural and professional bed side manner. When Emma applied for a position at the Spa we were delighted to welcome her on-board and we’re thrilled to hear that she has also won this award at Darlington College.”
Darlington College Principal, Kate Roe, said: “This is my favourite night of the year where we come together to celebrate the amazing achievements of our fantastic students. We are so proud of them and they should all be extremely proud of themselves.”
