Forty category one golfers from across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria with a handicap of five or below took part.
This year’s NGM entrants competed over 36 holes with golfers from across Teesside, County Durham, Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Cumbria representing their individual clubs.
Andrew Wilson said: “It was a fantastic event at Rockliffe Hall and the course is amazing. It was a great experience in itself, competing in a top event on a world class course – but to win it, I still can’t believe it!”
Golf and Estate Director, Davy Cuthbertson, said: “This is the first time we’ve made the competition a 36 hole event and it was a great success. We had excellent feedback from the players with everyone enjoying the ideal weather and perfect conditions of the course.”
Jonathan Ward, secretary of the Durham County Golf Union, said: “We’re delighted this event is now included in the Durham County Order of Merit. It went very well and we look forward to building an even stronger relationship with the Northern Golf Masters event in the coming years. It’s a great opportunity for exceptional golfers to compete in a top competition on an outstanding course. I’m also thrilled that one of our players, Andrew, won the event. He’s definitely set for great things!”
