Whilst many venues encourage booking your wedding day one or two years in advance, the Rockliffe Hall wedding team also loves to allow for spontaneity and ‘whirlwind romances’ and for this reason, we hold several dates each year. If you are ready to ‘fast track’ to your wedding day, you can be rest assured that the Rockliffe Hall team can organise and deliver your special day perfectly.
Set a date - Once you have found an available date at your chosen venue, your first move is to secure your Registrar or church availability; we will hold your date with no obligation for two weeks whilst you do this.
Plan the basics – At Rockliffe Hall, your wedding package includes a myriad of elements for your ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception. This helps a lot with cutting down on planning time as you won’t have to hunt for suppliers. Otherwise, this is the time that you will need to look for a toastmaster or master of ceremonies, chair covers, sashes and items to dress the room, flowers, stationery, menu cards and table plan.
Let us recommend - We can also offer an extensive list of trusted suppliers to help you source your outfits, hairstylists, make-up artists, photographers, florists and entertainment with ease. Now is the time to get all of these important elements booked, including the all-important cake and even more important dress (and suits!) A bespoke dress might be out of the question because of the short lead time, but there are amazing selections online or off the peg in shops, and a good seamstress can tweak for that perfect fit.
Pop another question, or two - Choose and invite your best man and bridesmaids. They’ll feel it’s a huge honour to be asking and should step up to the mark to help you plan for your big day. If you’re having stag and hen parties, ask them to organise these. Aim for a month before your wedding date if you can and drop some hints about a lovely spa day or golfing getaway for the gents.
Invite your guests - Although you have time to do this by post if you really want to, email will give you a faster idea of who will be coming and there are many fabulous templates available online to help with this.
Book a ‘minimoon’- Don’t be in a rush to leave after your wedding day. Book a couple of nights at our award-winning hotel so you have some time-out to relax after your nuptials, when everyone else has gone home.
The finer details – As the countdown continues, now is the perfect time for your menu tasting. This is a chance for you to meet the Conference and Banqueting Manager and the Chef, and to sample your chosen wedding day food and drink. This is also a good time to go through your pre-wedding checklist to make sure your preparations are on track.
Choose your rings – It’s an important decision as you’ll be wearing them for many years to come, so spend some quality time shopping around for your ideal wedding bands. We can recommend an amazing jeweller if required.
The complicated bit - It’s often one of the hardest parts about planning a wedding… working out where everyone will sit for the wedding breakfast! Make a table plan spreadsheet or the Rockliffe team can provide you with one to complete as your guest replies are returned. This is important for getting your table plan and place cards printed as well.
Thank you gifts – The two of you should take some time out from all the planning for a shopping spree to buy presents for those you want to thank on the day.
Dotting the I do’s - Our wedding team like to hold a ‘Final Details’ meeting with you one month before your wedding, to ensure that every single aspect of your day is perfectly planned just the way you want it!
Practice, practice, practice - Try on your wedding attire and arrange practice sessions for your hair and make-up so that on the day you know exactly what you’re doing. If you are having table centrepieces, tables for gifts, or memories, or ‘wishes’, photograph your ideal arrangements to make it easier to replicate on the day.
One week to go - During the week before your wedding, bring your decorations to your venue; cakes and flowers should be brought last minute, ideally by the suppliers themselves, to allow for final tweaks.
And finally, relax! - Everything is going to plan, and just to reassure you, your wedding team is on hand for any last minute advice and help.
