The perfect place for business?

Rockliffe Hall’s Golf Sales Executive, Tom West, talks about the benefits of a corporate golf day and what’s ahead for 2019.

For as long as there has been a golf course to play on, business deals have taken place out there. With four hours of somebody’s attention, a chance to learn not only about their business but to learn about them as a person through their manner and etiquette, can you name a better venue for business meeting?

Maybe it’s just a coincidence that business seems to happen on the golf course, however the stats seems to say otherwise. In 2016, Forbes said that over 80% of executives and 90% of the CEOS of Fortune 500 companies played golf, with those CEOs having on average a 17% higher salary!

But wait… what if you and no one else in your business is a golfer, does that mean you’re missing out on these potential business opportunities?!

Well no, not at all.

This is where a corporate golf day plays a big part of the business calendar, for all the golfers and non-golfers within the company. Whether you invite current customers or potential clients, it gives you the opportunity to spend valuable time together in a much more relaxed environment. And with a few hours together, it will only help build and strengthen your business relationships. If the event is well run at a top venue, organised and executed professionally, it in turn re-enforces your companies service and quality levels let alone impressing the golfers you’re inviting along. For the non-golfer in the business, their attendance is equally important to build the client recognition, if a customer feels valued by your company; they will remain a loyal customer to you.

Internally, a corporate golf day doesn’t just have to be for customers, it’s a fantastic opportunity to build and maintain staff motivation. A great team building exercise in a relaxed environment outside of the office will usually lead to greater performance back in the office. Finally, the marketing opportunities that come with hosting a golf day are endless. From social media platform campaigns to promote the event in the run up, to the on course branding and giveaways during the day, it really is the perfect way to increase the brand awareness.

From the big full day with the big impact, to the small gathering with greater one-to-one time, the tailoring of a golf day to suit your company’s needs is only a simple discussion away.
