Perfect Places to Pop the Question

Although possibly a bit of an outdated tradition, we’ve still been swept up in the romance of leap day proposals and have been exploring the resort to find the perfect places to pop the question this Monday 29th February.

Spa Garden
When it comes to romance, the Spa Garden at Rockliffe Hall really does offer it all. Whether you are lazing together on the hot stone beds, enjoying the different massage jets of the infinity edge hydrotherapy pool, relaxing on a sun lounger sipping a glass of prosecco or enjoying the panoramic views from the glass-fronted sauna, the Spa Garden really is a fantastic destination to enjoy precious relaxation time with the one you love. If you fancy getting down on one knee in this little slice of heaven, it can be hired exclusively in 2 hour sessions.

Golf Course Storm Shelter
We know an afternoon out of the golf course doesn’t immediately scream ‘romance’ but stick with us on this one… Full of spectacular views, wonderful wildlife and picturesque sunsets Rockliffe Golf’s sheer size can make you feel like you are the only people on earth. And thanks to the great British weather, there is a conveniently located storm shelter in the middle of the course just dying to be decorated for a dynamic proposal.

Old Hall Staircase
With hundreds of couples saying “I do” at Rockliffe Hall since we first opened in November 2009 it’s no surprise that one of our most beautiful spots for tying the knot is featured on this list. Although the Old Hall is full of stunning spaces, you can’t go past the grand staircase with traditional stained glass window as the ideal backdrop to your perfect proposal.

Woodland Walk
The roots run deep at Rockliffe Hall – not only is the Hall itself steeped in history but many of the trees around the estate have their own story too. Why not start your new story encircled by Mother Nature on a woodland walk?

Jim’s Bench
For the sentimental among you, Head Concierge Jim Stretton was one of Rockliffe’s long-standing employees who sadly passed away last year. Jim was the epitome of Rockliffe Hall and was always kind, loyal and a true gentleman. Jim’s commemorative bench sits outside the Orangery Terrace, surrounded by his favourite flowers and boasts beautiful views across the golf course – another perfect spot for taking the plunge.

Summerhouse
Looking out over the original 19th Century Old Hall, the summerhouse is a classic location for popping the question – private, yet easily reached from the Old Hall or Tiplady Lodge bedrooms. Picture you and your loved one cuddled up in a cosy blanket, looking up at the twinkling stars, maybe surrounded by a few added fairy lights… we’ll leave the rest up to you!

Good luck and congratulations!
