The number one attribute we look for when we recruit a new therapist is a positive can do attitude, skills are important and the truly amazing therapists are born with ‘the touch’ but without the right attitude, they just wouldn’t be a good fit for the team.
Over the years we have developed a knack for identifying potential Rockliffe therapists, at interview they demonstrate a passion to work for Rockliffe Hall, we are always impressed when they have done their homework and know our brand. The interview process comprises of an interview with our Treatments Manager Karen Jennings and our HR Manager Kathryn Hancock and a trades test which is an indicator of their bedside manner as they perform a massage and a facial on a senior therapist who is trained to spot talent.
Training commences even before starting as there is quite a lot to learn! As you would imagine we have standard operating procedures to ensure that the team are consistently performing at a high level of excellence and it takes discipline to ensure that every treatment protocol is delivered to the letter. One of the reasons we attract the most dedicated therapists is our training commitment. Not only do the therapists receive the best quality of training from our brands, such as Comfort Zone, Neom, Orly etc but we also invest very heavily in development. Some of our more holistic therapists have further enhanced their skills by studying with The Butterwick Hospice to enhance their knowledge in treating clients affected by cancer, we have supported therapists through reflexology and for those wishing to develop their careers we have run customer service, sales, leadership and even management courses.
With 24 therapists, it is a quite a big team which could seem daunting for a new starter, but they are such a warm caring bunch, they are almost like a little family, they support each other, helping each other out. It is quite usual to find that after you have taken a guest through to the sleep retreat and return to your room, the fairies have been and tidied it all ready for the next guest! The team have quite the social calendar and it never matters if you miss one night out because the next one is always around the corner. Therapists get the chance to win incentives such skincare products and visits to other spas. We encourage industry awareness and like to ensure a good turnout at Professional Beauty and Spa Life conferences.
To be a Rockliffe Hall Therapist you must enjoy massage and we are always careful to manage potential therapist’s expectations about the mix of treatments they will carry out on a day to day basis, our guests number one favourite treatment is massage and the feedback we receive suggests that our therapists are some of the best in the country, thanks to their own skills, personalities and the in-depth, ongoing training they receive.
Our therapists work hard and they work some unsociable hours (even Christmas day in some cases!) but they are so proud to be a part of this amazing 5 red star resort and be a member of the Rockliffe Hall family.
