Coronavirus COVID-19 Update for our Guests

An update for our guests in relation to COVID-19

Please note Rockliffe Hall is located in the borough of Darlington which is not affected by the new localised lockdown measures in place from Friday 18th September.

Dear guests, members and friends,

Rockliffe Hall has been awarded the AA Covid Confident shield, the VisitEngland ‘We’re Good to Go’ kitemark and most recently the global GBAC STAR accreditation for our agile and responsive approach to the ongoing pandemic. In addition to this, we have developed a Healthy Hospitality Charter which is our committment to keeping guests safe on resort.

We continue to follow the advice of the Government and relevant professional bodies at all times. Please find below useful information for our guests:

Face Coverings

  • Please note we politely request guests wear a face covering (except those who are exempt) when using public areas of the hotel, spa, lounges, restaurants and golf areas. Face coverings may of course be removed when eating and drinking in the restaurants, when using the gym and spa facilities and when on the golf course.

Local Lockdown Areas

  • For any guests who are travelling from an area impacted by new restrictions your booking can still go ahead provided you are travelling with guests from the same household or support bubble. Should you need to amend your reservation due to the local lockdown please email equiries@rockliffehall.com. Please note we are currently experiencing a very high number of calls and emails, and priority will be placed on guests arriving in the next 7 days.  Thank you for your patience.

Golf

  • The Rockliffe Hall Golf Course, Professional Shop, Practice Areas and Academy are to golf members, members guests and visiting golfers.
  • Please note there are strict health and safety and social distancing measures in place to protect our team, guests and members. These will be communicated to you upon booking.
  • To book a Tee Time or Golf Lesson please call 01325 729980

Hotel

  • We have a number of additional health and safety measures in place to protect guests and team members.
  • Adhering to Government guidance, Rockliffe Hall can accept group bookings for up to 6 guests only. From areas affected by local lockdown restrictions, Rockliffe Hall can only accept bookings from the same household or support bubble.
  • You will be encouraged to check-in online before arriving at the resort so you’ll only need a short visit to Reception to have your card authorised. This also means you’ll receive your welcome letter via email, reducing the need for paper. Bottled water will be available but for the time being, all other welcome refreshments and snacks will be removed.
  • Before entering the hotel all guests will have their temperature checked using a no-touch forehead thermometer.
  • Please note we politely request guests wear a face covering (except those who are exempt) when using public areas of the hotel, spa, lounges, restaurants and golf areas. Face coverings may of course be removed when eating and drinking in the restaurants, when using the gym and spa facilities and when on the golf course.
  • Please note Rockliffe Hall can no longer accept cash as a payment method, however transactions can by made by chip and pin or we can accept contactless payments through cards/mobile devices.

Restaurants - including Update to Service Times

In light of today’s announcement from the Government all pubs, bars, restaurants and other hospitality venues in England must have a 10pm closing time from Thursday 24th September, to help curb the spread of coronavirus. Venues will also be restricted by law to table service only. With this in mind, we wanted to advise you of the below changes that will come in to effect to keep members and guests safe at Rockliffe Hall:

  • New Service Times:
  • Reservations in The Clubhouse Kitchen & Bar can be made for drinks and all-day-dining until 8.30pm.
  • Reservations in The Orangery can be made from 6pm to 8pm.
  • Reservations for Afternoon Tea can still be made from 12.30pm to 5pm, but bookings after 3pm will be moved to the beautiful Old Hall Lounges.
  • Last orders for drinks will now be 9.30pm and we will close the restaurants and bars at 10pm.
  • Please note table service will be in operation for all guests.
  • If you have an existing booking that is affected by the above changes, a member of the team will be in touch to rearrange your reservation. Priority is being placed on bookings over the next 10 days.
  • Tables must be booked in advance through the Rockliffe Hall website or the app and all guests must complete a pre-arrival questionnaire and NHS test and trace details. You will have your temperature taken on arrival and a one-way system is in place for the Clubhouse Kitchen & Bar.
  • We kindly ask guests to wear a face covering (unless exempt) on arrival at Rockliffe Hall and within public areas. These can be removed once you are seated at your table.
  • Adhering to Government guidance, Rockliffe Hall can accept group bookings for up to 6 guests only. From areas affected by local lockdown restrictions, Rockliffe Hall can only accept bookings from the same household or support bubble.
  • The Brasserie restaurant remains closed.

Spa & Wellness

  • The Spa at Rockliffe Hall is now open to residents and members. Facilities which must remain closed for now are the poolside heat treatment rooms, as well as the sauna in the Spa Garden and the Mud Rasul.
  • For now, to enable social distancing and enhanced hygiene practices, we will ask you to book a 2 hour session in the spa during your stay, which will include a 30 minute swim in our main pool.
  • Guests can also upgrade their stay and enjoy a 2 hour experience in the Spa Garden as part of their visit (£30 per person). There is a small drinks menu with alcoholic beverages available in the Spa Garden.
  • Payment can be made at the juice bar by Chip & Pin, Contactless and ApplePay. Please note payment can no longer be made in cash at Spa Reception.
  • Social distancing signage is in place and government guidelines mean we are only able to welcome a reduced number of guests, which will ensure you have plenty of your own space in this area
  • The juice bar is open serving teas, coffees and smoothies, payment can be made by Chip & Pin, Contactless and ApplePay. You can also help yourself to complimentary water and iced tea.
  • As you settle into your lounger you may notice brochures and magazines have been removed, but a much wider offering is now available for you to read, via a complimentary online service available to guests.
  • You can also be certain that the entire spa has been cleaned before each session and you’ll regularly see our team on poolside and in the changing rooms, sanitising high touch points including door handles, toilets and railings.
  • Gym Equipment is spaced at least 1 metre apart where possible, shielded by screens or has been temporarily removed. Classes must be pre booked.
  • Adhering to Government guidance, Rockliffe Hall can accept group bookings for up to 6 guests only. From areas affected by local lockdown restrictions, Rockliffe Hall can only accept bookings from the same household or support bubble.
  • Spa Treatments: Rather than offering you our usual warm handshake your therapist will welcome you with a traditional Thai hands-free greeting. The full treatment menu now includes ‘face to face’ treatments. For manicures and pedicures a Perspex screen is in place and therapists will wear facemasks. For all other body treatments guests are lying face down and your therapist will wear a visor and facemask. Each treatment now commences with the ‘A New Beginning’ sanitising welcome ritual. Therapists will invite you to follow along with a hand sanitisation which then focuses on pressure points, reinforcing meridian lines on the hands, an application of Tranquillity blend and breath work concludes the ritual.

Gift Experience Vouchers

  • We are allowing all guests with an experience voucher due to expire before December 2020 to use their vouchers up to 6 months beyond the expiry date. This has been updated on your gift experience voucher automatically using the order ID and no further action is required.

Our team

  • We have provisions in place for office-based team members to work from home, where possible.
  • All team members who are working at Rockliffe Hall are doing so in a safe manner, we are a CovidSecure businesss and have been awarded the 'We're Good To Go' kitemark by VisitBritain and the AA Covid Confident shield.
