The course already boasts state-of-the-art irrigation and drainage systems to ensure it is open as much as possible, but the short amount of daylight hours through winter, and bad light at other times of the year, restrict the amount of playing hours members can enjoy.
We are investing in revolutionary, zero pollution floodlights so members can play a round at any time, day or night. Each tee will boast a 20 foot high floodlight which will light up each fairway, while specially designed lights on each green will enable players to putt, as if it was still the middle of the day.
To further enhance the night time golfing experience, glow in the dark golf balls, which light up for 8 minutes once they’ve been struck, will also be available to buy in the Golf Pro Shop.
The first floodlights will be installed in the coming weeks and soon Rockliffe’s 7,879 yard course, one of the longest in Europe, will be able to give any golfer the stern test it’s renowned for, at any time of the day or night.
Eamonn Elliott, Chief Executive at Rockliffe Hall, says: “We are constantly striving to further improve the Rockliffe experience for all our guests. Ask any die-hard golfer and they’ll tell you that if they could, they would play golf 24/7 – and soon, at Rockliffe, they will be able to.”
