Belgin Askoy founded GWD after overcoming illness through lifestyle transformation: “I’ve always been interested in anything having to do with healthy living, especially after my illness,” says Aksoy. “Turning illness into wellness should be our mission. If we can change one bad habit—if someone drinks more water, stops drinking soda, takes a 15 to 20 minute walk every day—we’ve fulfilled our mission,”
Liz Holmes, UK ambassador for Global Wellness day and former Spa Director at Rockliffe Hall is passionate about spreading the wellness word "Global Wellness Day, which has the slogan ‘One day can change your whole life’, brings together exercise, healthy eating and spiritual teachings and hopes to raise awareness about living well throughout the world."
Get one step closer towards living well, let our manifesto be your starting point!
In order to make Wellness a lifestyle, Global Wellness Day aims to adopt the following seven simple steps. What is important is not to implement all of the steps all at once, but to incorporate at least just a few of them into your daily life on a regular basis.
• Walk one hour
• Drink more water
• Don’t use plastic bottles
• Eat organic, locally sourced produce
• Do a good deed
• Eat a family dinner
• Go to bed at 10:00 p.m.
Across the UK spas, salons and health clubs are doing not for profit activities to celebrate GWD such as juice demos, meditation and workshops.
Have a happy Global Wellness Day!
