Rockliffe Hall has recreated its dining offerings to ensure that guests visiting the five star resort for a post-lockdown treat will feel safe, while kitchen and front of house staff can maintain social distancing.
Over the coming weeks there’ll be a phased reopening of the hotel’s three exceptional restaurants, the first to open being The Orangery on Saturday 4th July.
Dining guests visiting the luxury resort in Hurworth, near Darlington, can enjoy dinner seven nights a week with bookings available, and essential, from 6pm to 9pm. Afternoon tea hours have been extended, with delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches now being served between 12.30pm and 5.30pm daily.
The resort’s talented chefs have been busy developing a new à la carte three course dinner menu (£55 per person) to allow for social distancing in the kitchen, while the tasting menu has initially been paused in order to reduce guest touch points. This will be reviewed daily once the hotel is open.
Weather permitting, there will also be more ‘al fresco’ dining options available on the terraces, in addition to the spacious, light and airy Orangery restaurant itself. A new outdoor pop-bar has been built outside The Orangery serving draft and bottled beers and lagers, wines and cocktails.
From July 4th the takeaway afternoon tea service will also resume for those who want to enjoy a little bit of Rockliffe at home.
Looking further ahead, The Clubhouse Kitchen & Bar is due to reopen to guests on Monday 13th July following a refurbishment. Guests will be required to pre-book with arrival times staggered to reduce capacities and allow for social distancing. There is a pop-up horsebox available for visiting golfers and members offering takeaway food between 8am and 4pm daily, with drinks served until 7pm.
Depending on demand, The Brasserie will be the final restaurant to reopen, with bookings being provisionally taken from August 1st.
All guests wishing to have afternoon tea or dinner at Rockliffe Hall need to pre-book and will be required to complete a pre-arrival health questionnaire. Everyone will also have their temperature checked on arrival. Adhering to Government guidance, Rockliffe Hall can accept group bookings for guests from a maximum of 2 households only.
