Rockliffe Hall to temporarily close for 7 days in January as part of multi-million-pound Old Hall refurbishment.

As part of Rockliffe Hall's ongoing Old Hall refurbishment and the development of a brand-new, world-class dining destination, the hotel has confirmed a short pause in resort operations this January.

From Sunday 11th to Monday 19th January 2026, Rockliffe Hall will be temporarily closed to allow for essential electric and plumbing works to take place.

During this short window, the main hotel building will be closed, including bedrooms, public areas, restaurants, and our spa, gym and wellness studios.

While a full closure is never taken lightly, this carefully planned phase is crucial to delivering the next chapter of Rockliffe Hall.

What Remains Open?

Throughout this period, the Pro Shop, golf course, driving range and halfway house will remain fully open and operational.

The Clubhouse restaurant will also be open from 8am to 5pm daily, with breakfast, lunch and light bites served daily until 5pm.

Our resort reservations team will also be on hand to take bookings and enquiries to support guests.

What refurbishment works are taking place?

The ongoing renovation project includes a new 36-cover standalone restaurant, led by Culinary Director James Close being built in the grounds, and the restoration of the hotel’s iconic Grade II listed Old Hall, preserving its historic charm and celebrating the North East, while enhancing guest accommodations and experiences at the resort.

The Old Hall project sees enhancements to upper-floor guest rooms, the transformation of The Orangery and its kitchen to become the main resort restaurant, and opening sections between the cocktail bar, drawing room, and terrace, ensuring a seamless flow for guests.

When will the works be finished?

While an exact reopening date for the Old Hall and the new world-class dining destination have not yet been confirmed, the team are working towards fully reopning in summer 2026.

During the remainder of the refurbishment (excluding the temporary January closure), the New Hall accommodation, golf course, The Clubhouse, the spa, and Café TERRA will all remain operational to minimise disruption for guests.
