Myckala Smith, Food and Beverage Stock Administrator at Rockliffe Hall, won the Community Award at the North East Hotels Association Excellence Awards 2018

The winners also included two additional team members being named as finalists and the glittering awards ceremony was at the Marriott Gosforth Park in Newcastle on Thursday 10th May.

Five star Rockliffe Hall had several team members shortlisted for various awards. Ben Hunt, Manager of The Clubhouse, was a finalist in the Service Excellence Award while Sarah Charlton, Spa Boutique Manager, was shortlisted in the Best Newcomer category.

Louise Harbottle, a chef at The Clubhouse, won the main course dish in the Great North Menu challenge, organised by NEHA and run in partnership with Newcastle College. Louise’s winning dish of roast lamb with lamb shoulder croquette, rosemary gnocchi and broccoli puree, was served to guests at the awards ceremony.

The NEHA Excellence Awards actively seek out the best individuals in each hotel and recognises them for their outstanding achievements, exceptional service and professionalism. Its ethos is to reward hard work and ensure recognition is given to those who show real future potential and whose positive attitude makes a real difference to the visitor experience.

Myckala, who lives in Richmond, has been working at Rockliffe Hall for almost 4 years as Food and Beverage Stock Administrator in the Accounts Department. She was nominated for the Community Award by her colleagues as she has been the driving force behind a number of fundraising projects as part of Rockliffe Hall’s charity committee.

“I felt overwhelmed when they called my name for this award, and immensely honoured. North East people are known for having big hearts and I’m so pleased to be from this region and very proud to be able to help make a difference to the community of Teesside.”
