Rockliffe Hall Goes Barefoot on Spa Days

We are delighted to announce our barefoot spa initiative on World Earth Day marking one of the ways we are putting sustainability at the forefront of our plans for the Spa at Rockliffe Hall.

Today, on World Earth Day, we are delighted to announce we are going barefoot on Spa Days through removing disposable slippers.

With sustainability top of mind for 2023 and beyond, the leadership team are continually making steps towards ensuring the resort is more environmentally friendly. Prior to the barefoot spa initiative, over 2,000 slippers were being thrown away every month, which has environmental implications that could easily and simply be avoided.

Footwear is required in the spa restaurant, Nu Sana, and Rockliffe Hall Spa kindly asks guests to bring appropriate indoor footwear such as slippers or sliders if they will be dining. Otherwise, they are fine to enjoy the spa barefoot.

The holder of the highest accolade by Good Spa Guide, Five Bubble Luxury, for its excellent facilities, unusual and interesting treatments, great customer service and wonderful sense of peace, Rockliffe Hall Spa provides the perfect environment to relax, unwind and indulge.

Our spa days will go barefoot from 15th May, including full use of the tepidarium, infrared room, igloo, tropicarium, Roman sauna, salt steam, foot spas, experience showers, outdoor drench shower, outdoor hot tub, hydrotherapy pool and 20m swimming pool. The fitness team are on hand to give advice on gym and studio activities, and spa day guests are welcome to join any wellness classes and use the outdoor tennis courts.

Guests can upgrade their barefoot spa day to include holistic or results-driven spa treatments, or time enjoying the mud rasul. For an added indulgence, the spa garden is a hidden oasis enveloped within the existing spa boasting panoramic views across the sprawling estate, blending indoors and outdoors with an outdoor infinity-edge hydrotherapy pool, sun deck, heated loungers and more.

Jason Adams, Managing Director said: “Rockliffe Hall is committed to initiatives that protect the environment around us. After assessing our waste, the number of single-use slippers thrown away each month was disappointing and we knew we had to do something. It’s not an initiative we have seen in other resorts, and my hope is that others will follow suit to reduce the overall negative impacts of waste in the hospitality industry”.
