Steven Lamb, Head Chef of Rockliffe Hall’s flagship restaurant The Orangery is to appear on the 2022 series of Great British Menu.

The talented Preston-born chef will represent his home city and compete against three other of the North West of England's top culinary talent.

Recently promoted to Head Chef at Rockliffe Hall’s 3AA Rosette Orangery restaurant, Lamb joined the team as Chef de Partie in 2016 following a move to the northeast in 2013. He has worked his way up the ranks to Head Chef, working under Resort Executive Chef, Martin Horsley, where he serves showstopping dishes carefully crafted using the finest seasonal and estate-grown produce.

The series is being presented by Andi Oliver with a new judging line-up of: Michelin starred, GBM double banquet winner, Tom Kerridge; Restaurateur Nisha Katona, and Comedian and Food Podcast Presenter Ed Gamble. This year’s theme celebrates 100 years of British Broadcasting signifying the BBC’s first ever radio broadcast in 1922, kickstarting a complete overhaul of how we all consume media and culture ever since.

Lamb said: “I have been watching and admiring the talent on Great British Menu since it first aired so I was thrilled to appear in the 2022 series alongside other top home-grown chefs.

My passion for food has been present since an early age, and this dedication has developed life-long drive to achieve my professional goals including appearing on Great British Menu.

I am inspired by creative, innovative culinary techniques brought by today’s new generation of chefs, the ethos of farm to fork dining, sustainable food choices and experimenting with the illusion of food and sensory cooking techniques. I like simple food, done well – not overly complex or fussy – yet showcasing modern, creative culinary techniques.”

A total of 32 chefs representing eight regions or nations will compete against each other for the top prize.

The North West region heats will begin at 8pm on Tuesday 8 February and continue on Wednesday 9 February and Thursday 10 February. The series will air on BBC2.
