We are delighted to announce Rockliffe Hall’s Gardens and Estates Team have been awarded the Eco Excellence Award at the North East Hotels Association (NEHA) awards.

Rockliffe Hall’s estates team, including Phil Mennell, James Stark, Matthew Pow and Geoff Mennell were shortlisted for the award due to the sustainability of Rockliffe Hall’s walled kitchen garden, which was completely refurbished earlier this year and now produces organic fruit, vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers for the kitchens and grounds, which reduces the resorts carbon footprint and follows the resort’s ethos for using the very best seasonal produce.

The NEHA awards celebrate the achievements of the brightest and best hospitality service providers in the region who are delivering outstanding service to guests and their local communities at some of the region’s best-known hotels.

The glittering awards ceremony was hosted at Grand Hotel Gosforth Park on Sunday 2nd October 2022.

Jason Adams, Managing Director, said “The walled garden project was literally mud, sweat and tears for our valiant estates team who worked so incredibly hard, in all weathers, to bring the walled garden project to life earlier this year. I am incredibly proud of the work ethic of Phil and his team, and to see them scoop an award for their achievements is so rewarding. Well done to everyone involved!”

Phil Mennell, Estates and Gardens Manager, said: “I was over the moon when the estates team were shortlisted for this award. After an incredibly busy winter developing the walled gardens, it really is the icing on the cake to have been recognised with this award.”

Four other Rockliffe Hall team members were also shortlisted including, Norman Rudd for Cleanliness Excellence, Julie Murray for Inspirational Leader, Myckala Smith for Support Services and Stacy Clegg for Sales Excellence.

The North East Hotels Association is believed to be the biggest of its kind in England, representing 50 of the region’s best-known hotels including internationally and nationally recognised chains, and leading independent hotels.
