Rockliffe Hall sponsored jockey, Sean Quinlan with Takingrisks for trainer Nicky Richards won the Scottish Grand National in Ayr this weekend. The victory was secured four lengths clear of Crosspark. The favourite to win the race was Vintage Clouds but was overtaken by Takingrisks and Crosspark. Crosspark came second, just beating Cloth Cap and Blue Flight.
Sean Quinlan says: ‘It’s the biggest winner I’ve had in my career and the joy when I passed the line was unbelievable and something I’ll never forget’
‘Takingrisks travelled great and jumped really well throughout. We jumped the first well but got bumped badly on landing and I was lucky to stay on! He quickened up the home straight winging fences and galloped all the way to the line, drawing clear after the last, a great training performance by Nicky Richards.’
This surprise victory upset the odds and caused a 25:1 sensation.
Sean Quinlan also says: ‘It’s topped off a fantastic season and I have to thank my agent, all the owners and trainers who have supported me throughout the season for the brilliant opportunities and Rockliffe Hall for their backing.’
