The New Year always feels like a great time for a fresh start, a clean page as it were for good intentions to be put in to motion. Save more money, exercise more and spend more time with family being regular fixtures in the top resolutions year after year.
The custom of forgetting all about the resolutions is often as much of a tradition as setting them in the first place, with few making it past the end of January. Perhaps the reason that our determination fades so quickly is that the resolutions were not clearly enough defined in the first place and the reason behind the resolution was not enough to motivate the actions needed to see it through to an end.
Of my 44 years on this planet I have achieved two of my resolutions. Although this is a paltry figure the two resolutions have changed my life; one has extended it (quitting smoking 15 years ago) and one has enriched it immeasurably (learning a language). In both cases I can put the success down to the desire for the outcome being strong enough and the fact that in the years that I achieved these I focussed solely on these resolutions rather than having a long list.
Working in a Spa it is always so lovely seeing people make the most of our amazing facilities to help them with their new goals. Whether it’s Spa members committing to a programme of personal training, coming to nutritional workshops and socialising in the Brasserie, or Spa guests telling us that their visit was their treat to themselves for achieving something special.
We even created this January’s spa day ‘Divine Balance’ to help support people whose resolution is along the wellness, detoxing or slimming lines with a contouring and invigorating body wrap.
Whatever your resolutions, I hope that wellness and happiness are at the heart of your 2018.
From all of us at Rockliffe Hall Happy New Year!
