Jonathon, 51, who has worked at Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth near Darlington, for three and a half years, will compete at Grafham Water, Cambridgeshire, in the spring or at Lake Menteith, near Stirling, in the autumn.
Originally from Dorset but now living in Hurworth, Jonathon has been fishing since he was 8 years old.
Jonathon says: “Like professional cookery, fishing is another passion for me and I’m driven to succeed at both. It’s been a burning aspiration of mine from an early age to achieve an England Cap, having previously qualified for 2 national finals in 1992 and 2003. I’ve been working so hard to try and qualify for the 2019 Loch-Style Home Internationals next year and I’m thrilled to have made the cut.”
As part of his commitment to Team England Jonathan will also attend fundraisers and youth coaching and development projects.
Richard Allen, the Orangery’s Executive Chef, who is also a keen angler, says: “Jonathan and I have spent many hours fishing together and of course, many more hours working together in the Orangery kitchen. He is a driven individual and dedicated to everything he does, so I’m not surprised he’s been selected to represent England.”
